Star of choir boyband leapt in front of train

-

A singer who rose to fame as a member of the world’s first choir boyband took his own life by jumping in front of a train, an inquest has heard.

Patrick Aspbury, 23, became a star after joining three-piece band The Choirboys in 2005. An inquest heard he was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia at the Linden Centre, in Broomfield, Essex, when he died in April last year. Aspbury had been allowed out on leave from the ward.

The jury was told that he had made comments about jumping in front of a train during a therapy session two days before his leave.

The jury at Essex Coroner’s Court returned the verdict that he had committed suicide.
