My Secret Wig
RADIO 4, 11.00AM
Even though a huge number of people wear wigs, there is a curious impulse to keep it a secret (even if it’s really obvious to everyone except the person sporting the wig itself). Brian Kernohan explores the history of wigs and how they have been worn, from ostentatious 17th-century fashions to the discreet wig shops of today, which promise customers suffering from hair loss a sensitive and private shopping and fitting experience. Kernohan gets fitted for his own wig, which he finds an unnerving experience.
