 This is Fatal Attraction with a twist – here it’s a man who’s the obsessive crank. Patrick Bergin demands what he wants, when he wants from wife Julia Roberts. After staging her own death, Roberts begins life anew in Iowa, and soon catches the eye of a handsome local (Kevin Anderson). But Bergin is quickly back on her trail and he’s more monstrous than ever. The odd shock aside, it’s all a bit cheap and nasty. SKY ATLANTIC, 10.00PM ★★★★

 Director Ryan Murphy is best known as the creator of Glee and American Horror Story. This project, adapted by Larry Kramer from his own semi-autobiographical 1985 Broadway play, is an apt reminder of the ignorance and prejudice towards Aids – and retains a powerful sense of urgency. It follows a gay New Yorker’s (Mark Ruffalo) desperate struggle to raise awareness of the spread of HIV/ Aids in the early Eighties. FILM4, 11.05PM ★★★

 Adapted from John Grisham’s first novel, this is the harrowing tale of a black man (Samuel L Jackson), who, having murdered the rapists of his daughter, seeks a fair trial amid the racism of the South. Matthew Mcconaughey plays the principled lawyer who defends him and, as a result, has his life violently disrupted by the Ku Klux Klan (including Kiefer Sutherland). Joel Schumacher directs.
