Growing all out
SIR – I decided to increase the length of my facial hair (Letters, September 18) after being referred to as “Grandad Nearly-beard”. Owen Hay Colchester, Essex
SIR – Those of us who do shave each morning devote appreciable time to it. Even a relatively cursory wet shave occupies six minutes of the day.
I propose, therefore, that cleanshaven men be allowed one lieu day off work every eight months, on the basis that in 240 days the average man will have spent 24 hours plying his razor.
This would be a way of recognising the energy some choose to devote to personal grooming. Neil Sewell-rutter Oxford
