Girls in depression
One in four teenage girls in Britain believe they have the symptoms of depression, according to a major study. The research, involving more than 10,000 teenagers, found widespread emotional problems, with misery, loneliness and self-hate rife. Charities said girls faced a wide range of pressures, fuelled by social media, with parents far more likely to detect problems in their sons, even though their levels of unhappiness were lower.
