Coulthard’s rogue taxi driver ad banned

-

♦ Watchdogs have put the brakes on an Aviva car insurance advert starring David Coulthard as a rogue taxi driver who bewilders his passengers with an array of appalling driving habits.

The former Formula One racer even careers around a corner on two wheel in stunts created to convey the message that “no one should have to pay for other people’s bad driving” to promote the Aviva Drive mobile app.

But the Advertising Standards Authority banned it after receiving 58 complaints, ruling that it may “encourage reckless driving”. Aviva said that was “not the intent”.
