HOME COMFORTS

Designers fleshed out the lifestyle concept with collections that nodded at interiors and soft furnishings. At Mother of Pearl, models clutched under their arms not the latest handbags, but frilled cushions from the brand’s new lifestyle range.

Evidence of nesting instincts carried on at Anya Hindmarch, where squashy, sofa-studded handbags, candlewick bedspreads and saccharine wallpaper-brocade dresses underlined the suburban theme.

Not that it was all so decorative – JW Anderson reimagined utilitarian tea towels as the stuff of swingy skirts, tunics and wide-leg trousers, and Christopher Kane created stilettos with kitchen-sponge footbeds, though his glossy white latex gloves owed more to fetishwear than to Marigolds.
