Porters

DAVE, 10.00PM

-

After The Good Karma Hospital and Trust Me, writer/doctor Dan Sefton once again parlays his inside knowledge of the medical world into TV with this breathless new sitcom. The first episode sees newbie porter and aspiring doctor Simon (Ed Easton) shown the ropes by cynical Frankie (Susan Wokoma) and gnarled vet Tillman (Rutger Hauer, of all people). A mix-up with a dead rabbi and a suicidal patient (Mathew Horne) leaves Simon dealing with a suspicious doctor (Jo Joyner) and grieving relatives (Sam Spiro and Kelsey Grammer). Making hay with the clichés of medical drama and the most of its extraordinary cast, Sefton has a keen grasp of the mechanics of farce – this is a confident opener. GT
