Hate preacher disciple jailed for spreading terror online

- By Daily Telegraph Reporter

A DISCIPLE of Anjem Choudary and associate of the London Bridge terrorists used social media to spread messages of hate, a court has heard.

Taha Hussain, 21, was jailed for fourand-a-half years yesterday for disseminating terrorist publications.

He appeared in the Channel 4 documentary The Jihadis Next Door in the same scene as Khuram Butt, 27, who led two other men on a van and knife rampage at London Bridge and Borough Market in June, killing eight people.

Had Hussain not been arrested 10 months previously, it is “perfectly conceivable he’d have gone on to play a part in that attack”, a security source told Sky News yesterday. Hussain, also an associate of jailed hate preacher Choudary, filmed himself driving by Windsor Castle and Victoria Barracks, in Windsor, on the night after attacks in Paris. Shouts of “Allahu akbar” and “burn in hell” could be heard.

He ran two Youtube channels of extremist material and uploaded a series of rambling videos praising terrorists and voicing hatred of gays and democracy. He told the court he was a “peaceful protester” and insisted the material was for “educational purposes”. But he was convicted of seven counts of disseminating a terrorist publication following a trial at the Old Bailey.

Hussain’s barrister said he had been “immature and foolish”. But Judge Paul Dodgson told Hussain that he had expressed clear “hatred” for the UK.
