Doctor ‘used app to ask boy of 13 for unprotecte­d sex’

 An NHS junior doctor used gay dating app Grindr to try to lure a 13-year-old boy after finishing his shift and attending a “chemsex” party, a tribunal heard.

Thomas Jenkins, 28, went to the party under the influence of the drug mephedrone, before taking a man back to his home for sex and to take more drugs, it was said. He then went on Grindr and sent obscene pictures of himself to the teenager and asked the boy to have unprotecte­d sex, the hearing was told. Jenkins was arrested at his workplace in Wrexham, North Wales, after it transpired the boy was an undercover police officer.

Jenkins, of Manchester, faces being struck off at the Medical Practition­ers Tribunal Service hearing. In April, he was sentenced to a community order for three years at Manchester Crown Court after he admitted attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity He was also ordered to sign the sex offender register.

The hearing continues.
