SIR – You criticise airlines’ increasing­ly shoddy service (leading article, September 23).

We’re entering an era in which it will be especially important to demonstrat­e the quality of all things British. Should we allow British Airways to continue to use that brand name while its service levels decline?

As a regular long-haul business traveller, I’m witnessing this decline first-hand, with cost-cutting across the board. For example, BA lounges are being axed, and business travellers crowded into spaces shared with multiple other airlines.

Britain cannot afford to be represente­d by a flagship carrier with bucket-shop values. David C Pick
