A cheaper shot

SIR – The popularity of “artisan gin” (report, September 25) is just another example of a marketing gimmick justifying outrageous overpricing (these gins cost around £30 a bottle).

I am no artisan, but I have just produced six bottles of excellent rhubarb gin. The total cost was less than £70 (I mostly used Gordon’s). Peter Froggatt
