Call to clamp down on import of cheap steroids
The Government has been urged to clamp down on cheap steroids after a 35 per cent increase in imports as young men pursue the “body beautiful”.
UK Anti-doping (UKAD), the body that tackles doping in sport, called for the law on bringing image and performance enhancing drugs (IPEDS) into the country to be made tougher.
Their use is increasing among amateur athletes and gym users, according to UKAD. Pat Myhill, director of operations, said: “There are significant harms… including heart disease and liver damage, as well as those related to mental health, including aggression and depression.”
