Air hostess who made ‘racist’ film leaves BA

-

BRITISH Airways has confirmed a stewardess is no longer working for the company after a video emerged with her allegedly making racist comments about Nigerian passengers.

Joanne Wickenden was reportedly filmed in a clip captioned “I can’t cope with this flight” before flying from Heathrow to Abuja on Friday night. It allegedly shows the 23-year-old swearing and saying “all Nigerians are going to be asking for f------ upgrades”.

During the minute-long video, the woman adds passengers on the flight to Nigeria would need more leg room owing to the size of their genitals.

BA said: “We expect the utmost professionalism from our staff when they are representing British Airways.”

In the video, the woman said there was going to “bare BBC” meaning “lots of BBC”, but which appeared to refer to male genitals, before adding: “I’m joking, I’m joking.” She then goes on to say: “All the Nigerians are gonna be there like ‘gimme Coca-cola, gimme me beef, why you have no beef left?’.”

It is unclear when the video – filmed through Snapchat – was made or where it was published. Ms Wickenden refused to comment to Mailonline yesterday at the home she shares with her parents in Fareham, Hants.
