Girl power

“It never occurred to me that I should be at a disadvantage because I was born a girl.” Nicole Kidman has appealed for women to stand together against domestic violence as part of a series of letters on female empowerment published in Porter magazine. The Oscar-winning actress said she tried to portray strong female characters “who went against the expectations of society”.

The letter is among 50 entries from leading women around the world.
