Thailand’s ousted leader sentenced
Thailand’s supreme court yesterday sentenced Yingluck Shinawatra, the ousted premier, in absentia to five years in jail for criminal negligence, a verdict that likely ends her political career.
Yingluck’s administration was toppled in a 2014 coup and she was put on trial for failing to stop corruption.
The 50-year-old has not appeared in public in more than a month.
