Mountain rescuer dies in training accident
A MOUNTAIN rescuer has been killed during a training exercise on a “knife edge” ridge in Snowdonia.
Kevin Hallahan, 43, was taking part in a team training event when he fell to his death. Two mountain rescue teams and a Coastguard helicopter were called to the scene of the accident on the Crib Goch ridge.
The father of two was a member of the Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue team which had travelled to north Wales for the weekend.
A spokesman said: “Kevin was a skilled and experienced mountaineer who selflessly applied his knowledge to help those in need.”
