Police remove ‘Hang the Tories’ banner

POLICE have taken down a “Hang the Tories” banner after it appeared on a footbridge in Manchester.

Andy Burnham, the city’s mayor, denounced the banner which was strung across a footbridge with two human effigies dangling by their necks below.

Greater Manchester Police told The Daily Telegraph they had recorded the incident as a public order offence.

It came as Left-wing protesters carrying “Tory scum” banners clashed with police as they tried to surround the conference venue yesterday.
