Taj Mahal snubbed in official India brochure
The Taj Mahal, a Muslim tomb listed as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, has been snubbed by a tourist brochure published by India’s Hindu nationalist government.
The building in Agra does not even get a mention in the 32-page glossy booklet that glowingly catalogues the northern Uttar Pradesh state’s numerous Hindu monuments.
It follows Yogi Adityanath, the state’s chief minister and head priest at a temple in the booklet, claiming it did not represent Indian culture although its “tourism value” was recognised.
