Pigs get porky after gorging on leftover Bake Off creations

THE show-stoppers on The Great British Bake Off almost look too good to eat. So it might surprise viewers to learn that the fancy creations, the result of hours of painstaking work by the TV bakers, end up as pigswill.

Prue Leith, the Bake Off judge, revealed at the Henley Literary Festival she would pack up leftovers and take them home for her neighbour’s pigs.

“These pigs got the most amazing cakes and bread. Anyway, the vet has banned that practice and said the pigs were getting too fat. So now there’s no more cake. But one of the cameramen has pigs and his vet hasn’t said no.”
