Plastic surgery NHS spends millions repairing botched ops
The NHS is spending tens of millions of pounds correcting botched cosmetic procedures due to a swell in plastic surgery tourism, medical leaders have warned. A study by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) found a single hospital in London spent more than £280,000 repairing operations over 18 months.
BAAPS found that eight in 10 surgeons were spending more time treating complications from poorly regulated clinics abroad.
Experts also said girls as young as 16 were demanding plastic surgery simply because no one “liked” particular pictures they put on Facebook.
