Flight of the vanquished

Iraqi forces yesterday declared the north of the country clear of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant after retaking the city of Hawija, one of its last strongholds. Announcing the liberation, which involved, right, Hashed al-shaabi (Popular Mobilisation units), Haider al-abadi, Iraq’s prime minister, called it a “victory not just for Iraq but for the whole world”.
