Cambodia leader drives out opposition MPS

-

Cambodia’s government yesterday asked the country’s top court to dissolve the main opposition party, after its leader was arrested for treason, sending MPS into hiding.

The Cambodia National Rescue Party has been decimated by a government that is clearing out rivals of Hun Sen, prime minister and leader of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, ahead of next year’s election, which looked like going against him and his 32-year grip on power. Hun Sen has used the law and threats to drive out half the opposition MPS.
