School shut four-year-old in ‘prison cell’
A FOUR-YEAR-OLD child was locked in a room with no windows at school and permanently excluded when he lashed out, his mother has claimed.
Tina Yourelis has accused staff at Raeburn Primary School in Wirral, Merseyside, of placing her son in a “calming room” which had no windows after he was disciplined for allegedly attacking a dinner lady.
However, Ms Yourelis, 30, claims her son has behavioural issues and should have been dealt with differently, adding that he needs learning support rather than to be confined to a “prison cell”.
A spokesperson for Wirral Council said: “The school has received a complaint and this is being dealt with in accordance with the school’s complaint procedures.”
