COULD CBD EASE YOUR PAIN, TOO?

-

What is CBD oil?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is one of more than 80 cannabinoids, natural compounds found in the marijuana plant. Extracted from the plant as a mineral-rich oil, it is usually bottled with a dropper – but you can also get it in the form of chewing gum, soap or as a vape oil for e-cigarettes.

What does it do?

CBD has been a proven treatment for a range of cancers and neurodegenerative diseases, while also being an effective anti-inflammatory. CBD oil contains only trace amounts of THC, the primary psychoactive substance in marijuana, so it will not get you “high”. It has no side-effects either, and is not addictive.

How much should I take?

A recommended standard in terms of pain relief is one drop taken twice a day. Any doses larger than conventional therapy can enhance the effect of the trace amounts of THC.

Isn’t it illegal?

In December 2016, the Government’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency ruled that “products containing CBD used for medical purposes are a medicine”. They are, therefore, not illegal, as long as the product has a licence for use.

Where can I get it?

Holland and Barrett sells a 10ml bottle of Jacob Hooy CBD Oil for £14.99 (hollandandbarrett. com).
