HOW TO UPDATE YOUR OFFICE LOOK…

-

Think beyond the confines of your desk

“People who work in other locations [or even just other departments] will dress in a different way to those in your own office,” says Spearman of the tribes that form in the city. “In London you can tell the difference between someone who works in Canary Wharf versus Oxford Circus. Look at what other people are wearing and bring the best bits of their style to your own wardrobe.”

Add personality with colour and print

“Often we get stuck wearing navy and cream in the corporate world, but colour is the easiest thing to import into even the strictest workplaces. Start with burgundy or camel if you’re unsure – they’re undeniably suitable for any environment.”

Emphasise your best bits

“Sometimes you fall into a rut of reaching for the same silhouette every day, but do look objectively at yourself and remember what your best bits are. Then go shopping and find something to emphasise that waist or those legs.”

It doesn’t have to be heels

“Look at Claire in her trainers,” Spearman urges. “They’re clean and smart, not scruffy, so they look completely appropriate with the right suit.”
