Schools to get advice over ‘peer-on-peer’ sex abuse

-

Schools will be issued with new advice on “peer-on-peer abuse” after concerns that victims are sitting in class with their rapists, the schools’ minister said.

Nick Gibb, Minister for Equalities, told the Women and Equalities Select Committee that official guidance for schools will be reviewed in November, but that interim advice would be issued amid revelations about the extent of sexual abuse in schools.

The discussion follows revelations by the BBC that a rape victim was forced to share a classroom with her rapist.
