Satnav devices consigned to bin of history

- By Katie Morley

SATNAVS are going the way of the road map as a decline in sales means John Lewis has decided not to stock them.

The outdated devices are at the top of the list of items being “left behind” in John Lewis’s annual retail report.

New cars with built-in satnavs and free navigation apps for smartphones means there is less demand for a separate device. Sales have fallen so much that the retailer sells them online only.

Other items on the list of decline include kitchen spiralizers, analogue radios, e-readers and push-up bras, with the latter being ditched in favour of bralettes and crop tops.

What started as a fashion trend is now a wardrobe staple with sales of the “athleisurewear” up 90 per cent in two years. Alanna Leow-mckenna, of John Lewis, said: “Gone are the days when women longed to push up their cleavage. Instead there is a greater priority on the functional and comfortable.”
