Murder victim’s body lay in bed for two years

-

Police fear a murder victim may have lain undiscovered in her bed for more than two years.

Marie Conlon, 68, was discovered in a flat in west Belfast last Friday after police officers forced down her door.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday and remains in custody.

The last known sighting of Ms Conlon was in January 2015.

“It is our belief, supported by the medical evidence, that her death may have occurred at around this time,” Chief Insp Alan Dickson told the BBC.

Last night her family said they had made numerous attempts to contact her for two years but at no point were suspicions raised that she was dead.
