Restoration of a monarch

-

The celebrated Armada Portrait of Elizabeth I being hung at Queen’s House, Greenwich, south-east London, after extensive conservation work. The picture entered public ownership in 2016 after a public appeal raised £10.3 million, including £7.3million from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Some 425 years after it was painted in the early 1590s to mark the defeat of the Spanish invasion in 1588, it is now in the care of Royal Museums Greenwich.
