Kay illustrated all seven of the Harry Potter novels. This study shows the sheer variety of species in Rowling’s world. A scale indicates the smallest egg to be six inches high and the largest around 15 inches. All would have been familiar to Newt Scamander, of Hufflepuff house, the author of the textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
