Victorian star charts

Urania’s Mirror (1834) was a set of 32 star charts, printed on card and sold for astronomical instruction.

Each card was pierced with holes that correspond to the brightest stars, giving a realistic impression of a constellation when held up to the light. Many characters in the Harry Potter novels have names inspired by astronomy: Andromeda, Bellatrix, Draco and Sirius.
