Couple jailed for holiday bug claims

A COUPLE who falsely claimed to have caught stomach bugs on Thomas Cook holidays have been jailed after writing on social media of a trip filled with “sun, laughter and fun”.

Liverpool Crown Court heard Deborah Briton, 53, and her partner Paul Roberts, 43, from Wallasey, tried to claim nearly £20,000 by stating they and their two children had fallen ill on trips to Majorca in 2015 and 2016.

Briton was sentenced to nine months in prison and Roberts to 15 months. Both had admitted the offences.
