Trying not to hurt the feelings of the Vikings

-

sir – I have given talks to clubs and associations titled “My ancestors, the Bloody Vikings” for many years, and last week the club’s host asked me if it was permissible to tell a joke about the Vikings.

I must have looked as puzzled as I felt, because he said: “I thought I would finish off with a joke, so I just wanted to make sure you wouldn’t be offended if I told one concerning the Vikings.”

Is it too late to hope someone will re-invent common sense?
