Egyptian temple found after five-year search

Archaeologists have found a previously undiscovered temple dedicated to ancient Egypt’s most powerful pharaoh.

A joint Egyptian and Czech archaeological mission uncovered the 104 x 167ft (32 x 52 m) enclosure at Abusir, one of the main elite cemeteries for the ancient Egyptian capital city of Memphis, after a five year search.

It is the only temple to Rameses II in Abusir and casts valuable light on the endurance of the cult of the sun god Ra, the team’s leader said.
