A CAMBRIDGE University graduate blackmailed victims, including children, into sending him severe abuse images of themselves and shared them on the dark web.

Dr Matthew Falder, 28, who was ar- rested at his job at Birmingham University, posed as a female artist on the classified website Gumtree to trick victims into sending him naked or partially-clothed images of themselves. He would then blackmail them into sending degrading images, targeting more than 50 victims. His crimes make him one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders.

Falder, of Edgbaston, Birmingham, pleaded guilty to 137 offences, including causing the sexual exploitation of a child, making and distributing indecent images of children and encouraging the rape of a four-year-old.

He was remanded in custody until Dec 7, when he will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court.
