Murdered reporter’s son blames leaders
THE son of a Maltese investigative journalist killed in a car bomb this week has accused senior politicians of being “complicit” in her murder.
Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed on Monday when a bomb blew her car apart shortly after she left her home. Matthew Caruana Galizia, one of the first at the murder scene, said his mother was “assassinated because she stood between the rule of law and those who sought to violate it”. He told Joseph Muscat, Malta’s prime minister, as well as the attorney general, its police commissioner and senior politicians. “You are complicit. You are responsible for this,” he wrote on Facebook yesterday.
The United States yesterday said the FBI had responded to Malta’s request for help in investigating the attack.
