In a recent interview, Frank Skinner said that people still question whether he is qualified to present a series about art. Yet he’s proved again and again to be an excellent host on Portrait Artist of the Year – as knowledgeable as he is ebulliently funny. He and Joan Bakewell return for a new series of the competition that offers a big-money commission to the winner, with the focus shifting from portraiture to landscapes. Tonight, the contestants are challenged to capture the ruins of Knaresborough Castle. Patrick Smith
