Minister resigns over fire deaths

Constanca Urbano de Sousa, Portugal’s interior minister, has resigned following criticism over the government’s handling of a series of forest fires that killed more than 100 people in four months.

On Sunday, a series of wildfires broke out in the centre and north of the country which killed 41 and injured another 71.

Similar blazes in June killed 64 people.
