Stalag 17 (1953, b/w)
MORE4, 10.00AM ★★★★
A compelling black-comedy war film from director Billy Wilder, which tells the story of a group of American prisoners of war held in a German camp. They begin to suspect that they have a traitor in their ranks who is revealing their escape plans. William Holden picked up the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of wise-guy JJ Sefton and his speech was then the shortest on record – “Thank you. Thank you.” Otto Preminger co-stars.
