Fields of fire

A cow grazes on fresh fodder among the blackened trunks of trees on a hillside in Maceda, Spain, after devastating wildfires sparked by arsonists died down. Four people were killed and thousands of acres burnt in the Galicia region. By yesterday rains had helped extinguish the blazes, many of which had been burning for five days.
