MP raises concerns over data held by electric cars
The Government has been prompted into looking at the data collected by electric cars and who might want access to the information.
Sir Greg Knight, a Tory MP and classic car enthusiast, said although the data would be useful to insurance companies and police, it could be misused by, for example, divorce lawyers seeking to prove adultery, or zealous employers to track their staff.
Replying in Parliament yesterday, John Hayes, a transport minister, said: “Information is a powerful tool, and the collection and storage of information is something about which this House takes a very serious view. He is right to explore it.”
