Brush off

-

SIR – This weekend, staying at a hotel in Edinburgh, I asked for a lavatory brush for my room (Letters, October 24), with no effect.

During the discussion that followed I assumed that the delightful young staff member had a lavatory brush at home; he said he didn’t. He also said that if the hotel did provide brushes, they would have to supply a new one with each change of occupancy.

Is this a Brussels decree?
