Gregory Isaacs, The Godfather of Reggae

RADIO 2, 10.00PM

Outside of the reggae scene, most people only know Gregory Isaacs as the singer of Night Nurse – a song beloved by late-shift radio DJS the world over. Tragically, he also battled with drug addiction throughout his life, and died aged 59 in 2010. But, as the actor Adrian Lester explains in this excellent, persuasively impassioned profile, Isaacs was no one hit wonder – he had hundreds of albums, four Grammy nominations, and a Jamaican Order of Distinction to his name.

Yours Truly, Pierre Stone RADIO 4, 11.15PM

This new radio comedy from Peep Show writer Sam Bain is poised on the line between creepiness and poignancy – and certainly makes a change from the kind of backslapping sitcoms that Radio 4 usually commissions. Adapted from Bain’s dark comic novel of the same name, it’s voiced entirely by Pierre (Alex Macqueen), a middle-aged man with a boyish fixation on Strictly

Come Dancing’s Tess Daly. Each episode is structured around a series of voice memos, recorded by Pierre for Daly, that are perpetually unanswered.
