Indonesia seizes 101 rare pangolins from boat
Indonesian authorities have seized 101 live pangolins in a raid on a fishing boat, an official said yesterday.
The haul of the critically endangered species is estimated to be worth about $1.5million (£1.13million).
Indonesian officials discovered the pangolins on Tuesday on a fishing boat off the east coast of Sumatra island, the navy said. Authorities were tipped off by local residents who said men were attempting to smuggle the endangered mammals, which are covered in hard scales, to Malaysia.
