Tintagel Castle £4m bridge approved despite objections
♦a controversial £4million footbridge at Tintagel Castle in Cornwall has been approved despite critics saying it will turn the site into a theme park.
The 72m steel-and-oak pedestrian bridge will link the mainland and island wards of the legendary home of King Arthur for the first time since the 15th century. It was approved at a meeting of Cornwall Council’s strategic planning committee by a 13-two vote.
Sajid Javid, the Communities Secretary, may still call in the decision, as extra time was requested.
Natural England is among those objecting to the English Heritage plans.
