Muscatel memories
SIR – Not only are pineapples tasteless (Letters, October 20), but green grapes now bear little resemblance to those once enjoyed.
A variety named Thompson seems to be the preferred choice of supermarkets. Usually these tough skinned green bullets have little flavour. Is it to do with being seedless?
Where are the large muscatel and tiny sultana varieties that were once on sale in greengrocers in the Sixties and Seventies? Liz Tidey
