Uber hires former bank chief as its UK chairman

Uber has hired a banking industry veteran as the chairman of its UK business, as the ride-hailing app attempts to restore its reputation after losing its London licence. Laurel Powers-freeling set up M&S Bank and was a director at the Court of the Bank of England. She takes the post as Uber launches a charm offensive to repair relations with Transport for London.
