Bus firm manager sacks entire staff

♦ The managing director of a bus company has sacked all of his staff, telling them he could not work with them “a moment longer”, it is claimed.

Sydney Hardy is alleged to have sent an internal memo to his employees at Nippy Bus to say it would cease operating its services across South Somerset on Oct 29 and told them to “consider themselves dismissed/ redundant”, the BBC reported. It added: “I am quitting to pursue my dream of not having to work here... I have had enough and realise I cannot work with you, the people I employ, a moment longer.”

Steve Atkins, a Nippy Bus driver, told BBC Somerset he was “very angry that it was done that way”. Mr Hardy could not be contacted for comment.
