Kate’s caution
Social media is putting girls under too much pressure to be perfect, the actress Kate Winslet has said. The mother to three children, including a teenage daughter, told Harper’s Bazaar
magazine: “We need to be aware of how damaging to children’s selfesteem and the natural process of growing up certain aspects of this ‘sharing’ are,” she said, referring to the way online sites encourage distribution of photographs of friends and celebrities. Winslet added that she was happy that, at the age of 42, she was no longer required to be “easy on the eye” and could play characters “who are more worn-in because of life experience”.
